Social Media and proper grammar are not mutually exclusive

With the innovations over the internet, it is often forgotten, or at least taken for granted, the importance of grammar. With shortenings like "ur" or "wknds" being used incessantly via social networking sites it's getting harder and harder for kids to see the importance of grammar, syntax and cohesion of thought. It takes minimal effort to elongate those "ur"'s to "your" and "wknds" to "weekends" and use apostrophes where appropriate (it's; its) to signify the use of different words.
