Emmanuel, I recommend drawing a sketch with an inner rectangle

12 width and 15 height

and then "x" added to both right and left of width and "y" added to both above and below height

to get a large rectangle with area (2x + 12)(2y + 15) = 304

and a rectangle inside it with area (12)(15) = 180

Now you should see 2 rectangles with sides (x)(2y + 15) and 2 rectangles with sides (12)(y)

You don't say this in the problem, but if the walkway is "uniform," then x = y
