Writing A College Algebra Reference Book, Apply Educational Psychology

Recall y=mx+b. slope is m.

In this case, y=7x+0.

I have slope 7.

Now, change opposite of sign and change numerator and denominator; meaning see 7 as 7/1. Now change numerator and denominator, you get 1/7. Therefore, you get NEW slope -1/7.

given point (-1, 9). so,using y-y1=m(x-x1) or, m=(y-y1)/(x-x1), you heard slope is rise/runs, to find equation of line. you come out with y-9=-1/7(x+1).

y=-1/7(x+1)+9

y=(-1/7)x-1/7+9

y=(-1/7)x+62/7

Now, test answer by plug in x=-1 and y=9

I hope this help!

Please, give me sum up if you like it.

give me sum down if you do not like it.

give me explanation if I am wrong.

give me any comments regarding my answers.

Thanks!
