Percentage question; my husband wants to sell his guitar... again.

So my husband wants to sell his guitar on consignment. He wants to get $300 from it. Assuming it is a 25% consignment sale cost for the store, we then multiplied 300*.25 and got 75. So we added that to the 300 and assumed that he had to charge $375. But when we multiply 375*.25, that gives us $93.75... which would leave him $281.25. So can someone kindly explain the thought process or how to do this equation? Thanks so much!!!
