If you were able to go back in time to 1935 would you be able to use modern money?

Depression Era (U.S Currency), Or would modern money automatically be considered counterfeit? -and if so, why? i.e, what are the tell tale differences?

In those days, money was backed by gold or silver (one dollar bills were labeled silver certificates).  So the money looked very different from what it is today.  Today's money would confuse bank personnel if time could be rolled back the way that you suggest.
