Area = Length x Width = Lw

Perimeter = 2 * Length + 2 * width = 2L + 2w

800 = 2 L + 2w = 2(L+w)

400 = L + w

400 - w = L

area = L w = (400 -w)w

So the area function A(w) = (400 - w)w

is the area function in terms of width

The max occurs at the average of the zeros.

The zeros are w=0 and w=400.

The max occurs at (0+400)/2 = 400/2 = 200

The max area is (400 - 200)*200 = 200 * 200 = 40000

The width is 200, the length is 200.

The max area is 40000

Three corrals would mean there are 4w's so 800 = 2L +4W12/09/18
