Let L = length and w = width.

Here's what we know:

P = 2L + 2w (The perimeter is the 2 lengths and 2 widths added together)

w = 2L - 10 (The width is 10 less than twice the length)

P = 550 (we're given the perimeter)

Now that we have values for our equation, we can plug them in:

550 = 2L + 2(2L - 10)

If you want to simplify the equation, you can, by distributing:

550 = 2L + 4L - 10

550 = 6L - 10

Your question doesn't ask to solve, and I'm sure you can solve for L (and then w) from here
