How can we make 11?  2 + 9 (29), 3 + 8 (38), 4 + 7 (47), 5 + 6 (56)
Using the process of elimination--
If        (2 x tens) + 2  =  units

for 29   (2 x 2) + 2 =
                 4    + 2 = 6  not 9, so it's not 29

for 38   (2 x 3) + 2 =
               6      + 2 = 8  so the number is 38
Let x = units digit and y = tens digit

Then, x+y = 11
             x = 2y + 2

So, x + (2y+2) = 11

                   3y = 9

                     y = 3
                     x = 11-y = 8

The number is 38.
