(6- 2X) / ( X- 3) =

Factor the numerator:

2 ( 3 - X) / ( X -3) :

Facor  -1 from numerator

-2 (-3 + X ) / ( X -3 ) = -2

Cross out ( divide both numerator and denominator by ( X -3 )

   Answer is -2.

(6-2x)/(x-3)
2(3-x)/(x-3)
multiply the numerator by 1 written as (-1)(-1)
(-1)(2)(-1)(3-x)/(x-3)
(-2)(x-3)/(x-3)
cancel the (x-3) in the numerator and the (x-3) in the denominator
the answer is -2

another way to look at this...

2(3-x)/(x-3)
multiply top and bottom both by (-1)
(-1)(2)(3-x)/(-1)(x-3)
(-2)(3-x)/(3-x)
same reasoning as before
answer is -2
