You want to dra an enlargment of a design that is printed on a card that is 4in. by 5in. You will be drawing this design on paper that is 8 1/2 in. What are the dimensions of the largest complete enlargement you can make?

A) 1 3/5 in by 10 5/8 in.
B) 1 3/8 in. by 3/5 in.
C) 8 1/2 in by 4 3/8in.
D) 8 1/2 in by 10 5/8 in.

I'm a little bit confused with the problem. I know I'm suppose to be enlarging the original image by I'm not sure by what.

Picture laying the card on top of the larger piece of paper so that the 4 corresponds to the 8 1/2, and the 5 corresponds to the long side of the larger paper. If you think of it as a proportion, you'll see how to solve it.
