(i)    9x - 2y = -5
(ii)  -6x + y = -1

Multiply the bottom equation by 2 and add it to the top equation:

   9x - 2y = -5
-12x + 2y = -2
________    __
-3x          = -7

x = 7/3

Plug this value of x into equation (i) or (ii) to get y.  Using equation (ii), get

-6(7/3) + y = -1

-14 + y = -1

y = 13

Test the solutions for x and y.
