Hi

Solve this using normal algebra rules.

4+ | x-1 | = 11

| x-1 | = 11-4        subtract 4 from both sides

| x-1 | = 7

(x-1) = + 7         remove the absolute value signs by taking + and - of the right hand side

x-1=7      and     x-1=-7

x=8         and      x=-6

2 values that solve this problem   x = 8 , -6
