Now can you please put them in if else statements for me?

Mark M.

Not sure what you mean by "if else."

Do you know about coding?
Report

Mark M.

Did a "google" for coding. Are you doing something with a computer app?
Report

Mark M.

Read "CodebyMath.com." Not in my experience. Regrets.

Can you give me some other examples, like some other if then statements?

Like:
If a quadrilateral is a square, then it has four equal sides.
If a triangle has two equal angles, the triangle is isosceles.
If a number is divisible by 4, it is divisible by 2.

Can you give me 2 more about the multiple of 3 ones?

Are can you give me some counterexamples?
Report

Mark M.

555, 5+5+5

Mark M.

Ooops
555, 5+5+5 = 15, 555/3=183
891, 8+9+1 = 18, 891/3 = 297

Assuming the hypothesis-conclusion is true, no counterexamples exist.

I changed the statement to: if a number is divisible by 3, then it is a multiple of 3. give me some alternative cases please. thanks

Mark M.

By definition if "a" is a multiple of "b," then "a" is divisible by "b".
What do you mean by "alternative cases?"
Report

Junior W.

like other ways to say it.

are if the number wasn't divisible by 3 then how would i say it

then can you give me another if-then statement regarding number relationships.
Report

Mark M.

If a number is not divisible by 3, then it is not a multiple of 3.
If a number ends in 0 (zero) or 5 (five), then it is divisible by 5.
If a number ends in an even number, then it is divisible by 2.

regarding this statement: if a number is divisble by 3, Then it is a multiple of 3, can you give me some alternative cases?

Report

Mark M.

The converse is true:
If a number is a multiple of three, then the number is divisible by 3.

What would happen if the remainder is 2?
Report

11/14/16

Mark M.

If a number is divided by 3 and results in a remainder, then the number is not divisible by 3.
Report

Junior W.

Sorry didn't answer my question, what would happen if I divided it and the remainder was 2?
Report

11/14/16

Mark M.

I do no understand what you mean by "what would happen."

Junior W.

would it still be able to be divided by 3 and a multiple of three?
Report

11/14/16

Mark M.

No, by definition is a number is divisible by another number the remainder is zero.
To your specific example, if when a number is divided by three and there is a remainder, then the number is not divisible by 3.
