Explain the difference between a culture and a regime. How did European expansion affect both? (culture, regime)
A culture is the collected manifestation of human achievement. This includes the arts, language, and traditions of a culture group. Whereas a regime is an authoritarian government imposed from above. European expansion affected cultures when land was confiscated, disease was introduced, slavery was developed, intermarriage occurred, and new languages were introduced. Positive effects by regimes on culture were when advances of the scientific and industrial revolutions were introduced. Modern, efficient transportation, improved farming techniques, and providing clean water in famished communities were positive European additions to cultures changed by regimes.
