If you put money in the cash box to start in order to make change, then that money was not part of the profits and must be subtracted out at the end of the day. In this problem The $453.50 is made up of the $25 starter money AND the amount that was taken in. To solve, subtract $25 from the $453.50.

453.50 - 25 =428.50
