                                                         x+16x = -8

Add 64 to both sides:                   x2 + 16x + 64 = -8 + 64

Factor and simplify:                     (x + 8)2 = 56

Use the square root method:     x + 8 = ± √(56)

Subtract 8 from both sides:        x = -8 ± √(56)
