Please help me with all my homework. I'm kind of having a hard time understanding it. Thanks!
1. "the sum of the number and 6" = x + 6
2. "the square of the sum of the number and 6" = (x + 6)^{2}
3. "the square of the sum of the number and 6 is 169" = (x + 6)^{2} = 169
4. x + 6 = ±√169
5. x + 6 = ±13
6. x + 6 = 13 and x + 6 = -13
7. x = 7 and x = -19
8. (7 + 6)^{2} = 13^{2} = 169
9. (-19 + 6)^{2} = (-13)^{2} = 169
10. therefore, the solution set for x is {-19, 7}
