The lower quantity was made by Jim's team.  Therefore, in my opinion, it would be easiest to have his domain represented as x, although other Wyzants may disagree with me.

x=quantity of chips made by Jim's team.
2x-4=quantity of chips made by Nancy's team.

Therefore
(2x-4)+x=80
Let's simplify...
3x-4=80
Let's isolate x...
Let's add 4 to both sides...
4+3x-4=80+4
3x=84
Let's divide both sides by 3...
(3x)/3=84/3
x=28=Jim's team
2x-4=2(28)-4=52

Let's check our results...
Does 28+52=80....Yes!
