Let x stand for the "mystery number" you are trying to find.

75% of x plus 75 = x

0.75x + 75 = x

Bring the variable terms to the left side of the equation by subtracting x from both sides.
-0.25x + 75 = 0

Bring the constant terms to the right side by subtracting 75 from both sides.
-0.25x = -75

Divide both sides by -0.25

x = 300

If 75% of a number is added to 75, the result is the number itself. Then the number is?

"If 75% of a number"   .75x

"is added to 75"  .75x + 75

"the result is the number itself."

.75x + 75 = x

Subtract .75x

75 = x - .75

75 = .25x = x/4

Multiply both sides by 4

300 = x

Hey Shiva -- since 25% (or 1/4) of the number is missing, and 75 restores that number, then 75 must be 1/4 of that number ... double it twice ... 75, 150, 300 <== Best wishes :)
