27+(7/-4) =

First convert into fraction and simplify problem:

27/1 - 7/4 =

Next convert denominator into like terms (what you are doing here is multiplying 27/1 by 1, you then multiply the numerator by the numerator and denominator by denominator):

(27/1 * 4/4) - (7/4)

108/4 - 7/4 = 101/4 = 25 1/4

Therefore 7/-4 = -1.25 (because we are dividing by a negative number)

Next the problem will look like 27 + -1.25, which is the same as 27 - 1.25.
