If I'm understanding this correctly the first month you worked 6 hours and were paid $500. This is $83.33 an hour, (500/6 = $83.33/hour). So here's the math for the second part of this:

x= "additional" hours

10(x)= $560

10x=560

10x/10 = 560/10

x = 56 hours

If you're solving for the additional hours for the second month you would then subtract last months hours fro the second month: 56 - 6 = 50 additional hours or x = 56 -6, x = 50.
