Personalized Tutoring

Chris is an outstanding tutor. He understands not only the subject he is teaching, but the student he is teaching it to. He reviewed prior lessons, tests, and notes to identify where and why my son was struggling in class. He established a baseline and foundation to build off of. He also taught my son best practices in test taking that my son will be able to use in his other classes and for years to come. We feel very fortunate to have found Chris.

Knowledgeable and relatable AP World History tutor

Chris is extremely knowledgeable; not just about APWH subject material, but also on how your child will be tested on it. APWH testing is really a subject within a subject. Answering SAQ's, LEQ's and DBQ's are really a science and must all be learned in addition to the names and dates and etc. Even MCQ's are unique as questions aren't all as simple as "when did this happen" or "who did this" and are instead a combination of memorizing facts and thought-provoking and interpretive questions (you'll see, hard to explain, but my son would have to interpret what he was seeing in a photo that they don't go over in the class). Especially 9th graders will NOT be prepared going into APWH with the tools needed to do well in APWH (at least in the beginning). My son had never received anything less than an A before APWH and was sitting with a C and looked lost. Chris brought my son's C up to an A. His test scores and confidence shot up dramatically. His teacher commented to him "whatever you're doing, keep it up". Start Chris before APWH so he can give your child the tools to do well from the very beginning. Use Chris throughout, but start with him even before the class starts. Learning how to answer SAQ's, LEQ's and DBQ's is something that takes a little time and not something you can succeed in the class with if you don't have a firm grasp on. Being prepared for the in advance for the MCQ's, SAQ's, LEQ's and DBQ's your child will face will lead to not seeing that look of being lost I saw on my child's face. Chris isn't dry; he's fun and relatable and 'cool' and your child will both learn from and enjoy their sessions with Chris. I tell Chris all the time he's the best thing I did for my son's academia to date and I feel very blessed I found him. My son was demoralized and frustrated and questioned his intelligence after years of success in school and after finishing 3rd in his class (8th grade graduation). He was well beyond humbled and felt like a failure. It literally broke my heart. If you're in the class, especially in the 9th grade, your child will very likely be similar to mine and you don't want them to feel what mine did and you don't want to see that look on their face. To get to this point, you've almost certainly had to invest in your child's education, invest a little more, it's sooo worth it.

The BEST tutor hands down

We had never tried Wyzant and decided to give it a try for AP World history tutoring. We looked through many profiles & reviews and we contacted Chris. Chris is engaging, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, dedicated and puts in extra time to make sure when they have a lesson that it is a high-yield hour. He has gone out of his way to make sure that our daughter feels comfortable with the material and the AP testing format. He has taught AP World History for many years and really knows the Ins and outs of the AP course/test. He is flexible and will send extra information to help solidify concepts. He has been flexible with our crazy schedule and finds time to make it work. She looks forward to her sessions with Chris because she knows she’s going to feel more confident and have a better understanding of the material after. She is doing excellent in the class and we know the sessions with Chris are helping. We have never used any type of tutoring before and I think Chris has spoiled us. I wish he could tutor for all subjects because it is hard to find people as committed, engaging and talented as Chris. We feel like we hit the tutor jackpot. He is truly one-of-a-kind. The best.
