Hi, I'm Alex! I'm a Hydrology PhD candidate at the University of Wyoming. I primarily tutor Math and Physics, since those were my majors at Oberlin College, where I studied as an undergraduate until May 2018. I'm dedicated myself to continue teaching and helping other students. For three years, I tutored Math and Physics students at both Oberlin College and the local high school through the Oberlin College Center for Student Success. Outside of being able to watch students improve their understanding of difficult new topics, I also love exploring all the fun and interesting parts of these subjects too; concepts that we learn in the classroom had to have been intriguing to at least somebody in the past, or else they wouldn't exist, and I love exploring that with my students.
I've been in a number of other supervisory and teaching positions aside from simply tutoring. As an avid rock climber and outdoorsman, I taught an accredited Oberlin College Rock Climbing Class for three years, where my co-instructors and I focused on developing our students into confident, independent outdoor climbers from being complete beginners. This was also my goal in Summer 2018, when I worked as a backpacking trip leader for middle- and high-school aged campers in the Trinity Alps in California. I try to bring this feeling into tutoring as well. Math and Physics should be no less fascinating than a challenging rock climb or a difficult hike, and should be just as rewarding.
I can help you with everything under the umbrella of undergraduate and high school level Physics, Math, and Astronomy, and I hope to see you soon!
