I have spent nearly 20 years working in the culinary industry, with the last few of those spent as the executive chef, managing a restaurant. I have spent the last couple of years engaged in finishing my third undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in social justice studies in public health with the intent of going on to a Masters of Social Work, specializing in food justice issues.
I hold a degree from the California Culinary Academy and certifications from the National Restaurant Association. These not only allow me the in-depth knowledge of the culinary field, but through the years I have gained a wealth of experience in time management and human resource management. Along the way I have gained a wealth of experience working with volunteers, interns, and the public in training and developing skills and talents.
I have almost ten years of personal experience in building and operating personal computers that are Microsoft based. I am well versed in the frustrations and joys of putting together a PC and dealing with the mountain of software that entails.
I have also been addressing the issues of fitness as involved with food justice issues. In this regard I have gained certifications in fitness and developed, mostly through personal research and experience, a wide range of knowledge of fitness and the nutrition needed to develop it.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have several years experience in yoga and single and group fitness instruction. As a certified personal trainer I have the educational background for fitness instruction, combined with my years of yoga experience, I have the necessary skills needed to instruct yoga. My instruction level is beginner to intermediate, with some progression between those levels. I also have training in Pilates and Tai Chi, which are useful for the breathing and mental portions of yoga practice.
