If your student is behind grade level in math or reading, I can help. The students I've tutored have gained up to a grade level in a semester of tutoring once a week. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified to teach K-6th by the PTSB of Wyoming. I have previously tutored students in elementary math and brought them from below grade level to grade level and above within a semester.
When substituting I was able to express a concept that the class was struggling with, and 90% of the students understood by the end of the lesson.
