While a student at Shepherd University, I spent countless hours working in the Academic Support Center as a writing tutor and served as an attached tutor (sort of like a teaching assistant) for six English/writing courses. I quickly discovered how much I enjoy helping others craft academic and professional writing.

After serving as a tutor, I worked as an editor for the University's student newspaper, which involved writing, editing, and assisting other writers with all levels of their article production. I still work as a freelance journalist.

I also spent five years in management and training for a corporate book retailer, which enabled me to further hone my communication skills, both verbal and written.

I have experience assisting students with brainstorming, formulating, proofreading, and polishing essays, creative writing, journalistic work, and web content. I've worked with individual students and as many as 15 in one classroom setting.

I am also a former news editor for a student run newspaper, which required me to review articles for a variety of things including grammar. Finally, as a creative writer, I've served as an editor for a number of journals and tasks have included assessing grammar.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Leigh is a good listener and really tries to help the student by finding their weakness from every lesson. He communicates well with parents and always sends feedbacks per lesson, which is helpful. My son has a fear of writing and Leigh is helping him overcome that fear little by little. Leigh also seems to have taught a lot in the past, he gives helpful practice homework too. Definitely a teacher I would recommend!

Great tutor!

Leigh went through everything with me down to the details. We got from brainstorming to content and layout of the paper within one session. He was great at listening to my ideas, and providing insights on how to implement those ideas into the writing. Overall, great guy to work with!

Vinh, 4 lessons with Leigh

Knowledgeable and professional tutor

Leigh is an amazing tutor and messaged back with me promptly. I was able to schedule a time to review my research paper the same day. Leigh read over my paper beforehand allowing to complete other tasks in the meantime. during our video tutoring, Leigh gave excellent advice on changes I should make on my paper. I am confident that thanks to working with Leigh my paper will be scored much higher than working on my own. I will look to work with Leigh again in the future.
