Frostburg State University (Education)
Hi! My name is Jessa and I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education! I student taught for 3 years and I was a substitute teacher for 1 year before accepting a job as a home visitor. I currently go into homes and work with children from birth to age 5, keeping them on track for school.
My favorite part about teaching is the look children give me when they understand what I have been teaching them! The most rewarding part of my job is giving my students the confidence they need to be successful, not only in school but in life! I promise as a tutor to do everything I can to help my students achieve greatness!
I make learning English, or any subject, fun! I believe in giving hands on activities and ideas to help children get up and learn the material instead of just sitting at a desk memorizing terms. I provide games to try at home and a variety of other ways to learn the material. My teaching styles are unique to the students I teach and I try to base them off student interests.
I would love to help make learning easier! Please contact me and I will do my best to help you learn quickly and efficiently! Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my BS degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I am certified to teach pre-k to 6th grade students. I have my diploma and teaching certification.
I took a handwriting class my senior year of college. I also taught handwriting courses in my years of student teaching.
I took classes on phonics in my college career in order to be able to teach elementary students. When I was a substitute teacher I taught phonics lessons to my students.
I was a softball coach for 3 years at a high school in my home town. I have played softball since I was 12 years old and I played baseball before that from age 5. I am currently 25 years old and I still play softball on a league where I live.
I passed the Special Education Praxis and I am now certified to teach students with any special needs. I was a substitute teacher for 1 year and performed duties as a Special Needs teacher numerous times throughout that year.
I taught study skills with my parents I work with and with the children I taught during my student teaching. I know every student learns differently so I have adapted those study skills based on how each student learns.
