I'm Ari! I graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Psychology, with minors in Spanish and Gerontology. Afterwards, I spent a year coaching athletes in their out-of-sport physical conditioning. I then received a M.S. in Sport and Performance Psychology and a M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Adler University in Chicago. I am currently a doctoral student at West Virginia University studying Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. Throughout my studies I have tutored college-aged students and taught courses to undergraduate and graduate students in topics related to psychology, counseling, exercise science, and lifespan development.

My expertise in cognition and psychology allows me to support not just the content that needs to be learned, but also to provide the best evidence-based studying and life-management skills. I have worked clinically with people of all ages to better support their mental health and performance development. I believe that academic success is due to a combination of intelligence, work ethic, learned skills, and creating efficient routines. I teach, and tutor, by first assisting the learning and development of foundational study skills. For example, we may start by establishing an efficient and realistic study schedule. This then provides students the ability to effectively manage time, plan and prepare for coursework, and to make meaning of learned information.

The end goal is to provide a benefit, and valuable service, to the students. I am open to feedback and work to meet the needs of the student (where they are). I am easy to reach and will provide responses within 24 hours. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out!

Between my academic studies and my clinical experience, I have extensive knowledge and practice working with neurodivergent individuals.

I have extensive training and education in all aspects of psychology. My undergraduate studies focused on the broad understanding of psychological theory and practice, including gerontology. My Master's degrees narrowed in focus and revolved around helping professions (counseling, sport and performance consulting). I am currently a doctoral student studying sport, exercise, and performance psychology. All this to say, I believe I am highly qualified to teach and tutor any and all topics related to psychology.
Social Work

Social Work

Through my clinical and applied experiences as a counselor and performance consultant, I have learned and trained to provide services to support the needs of clients. These skills and knowledge transfer to the tutoring space. I believe these skills are valuable in being able to work with students, and it allows me to create safe, supportive, and beneficial learning spaces to support learners.

Special Needs

ADHD,

ADHD

My clinical and applied work has focused on improving the cognitive capabilities of individuals experiencing executive functioning deficits. Generally, this work has included everything from stress management to attention/focus training to support clients' needs and improve academic and performance related domains.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

ASD, and the experiences of neurodivergent individuals, is one of the main reasons that I chose to pursue a Master's in Counseling and a PhD in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. I have experience working with individuals with ASD, and I encourage a family-based systems approach to reinforce and support the learning of the student.
