In an effort to avoid the job market for as long as possible, I have been in graduate school for 8 years. After earning four degrees from three universities, I have taken more economics and statistics classes than I can remember! And I painstakingly re-copied my notes from every class I took, so I have tons of resources to help you succeed in your own classes.

I offer several options: in addition to in-person meetings and online sessions, I am able to work through any homeworks or exams on my own time and send you my work to look over.

I am approachable and passionate about economics. Communication of basic economic tenants is my strength.

Through my extensive graduate school career, I have taken 8 econometrics courses. As someone with math anxiety, I feel particularly qualified to help others understand this mash-up of statistics and art.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I am comfortable with children, pre-teens, and teenagers, and they generally open up to me quickly! It is important to me that students struggling with math or science get exposure to women in science like me. I feel especially qualified to instruct because I myself HATED math and science (and sometimes still do!). Together, we can work through our frustrations and make friends with these intimidating subjects.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

When I was learning algebra, there was more crying than math involved. My dad used to make me do extra math after school, which I absolutely hated. However, he was right! Now, I am a whiz at algebra and, coming from a place of fear and intimidation, I understand young students (especially girls) who feel similarly. Math can be scary, but my struggles with the subject have made me a good communicator and teacher.

Logic

Along with my qualifications in economics, science, and math, I also have an undergraduate degree in philosophy. Logic was my favorite subject, and I can't wait to help you love it, too.
Probability,

Probability

Probability and statistics are the fun maths! I find that many students who dislike calculus and algebra are surprised by their own affinity for statistics. This is a useful practice that can help students feel valued and worthwhile in their studies. I have over 12 years' experience learning statistics, and 2 years' experience teaching it.

Martial Arts

Although I wanted to be a cheerleader, my parents made me practice martial arts. Over my eleven year experience, I achieved a first-degree brown belt (one below black-- I had to write an essay to get my black belt but I never did), taught child- and adult-level classes, and competed on a state level. I am technically the Pennsylvania state champion, but that's because I was the only girl to show up. I've had my front tooth punched out by a man twice my size, trained with various weapons including a bo staff, nunchaku, and knives. My specialty is ground-fighting.

Life saver

Erika was extremely helpful when I needed immediate assistance. She helped me understand and identify which formulas and equations to use for each problem. She also helped me understand the Stata program better.
