Along with my BS in Foods and Nutrition, I recently completed my BS in Physics and currently working on an MPH in Epidemiology. I plan to continue my career in clinical healthcare research as it relates to physics. As a current student, I often pass on study techniques to maximize learning, improve grades and increase motivation. My experience is primarily college-age and high school education, but I have been complimented on my ability to adjust educational needs for all ages.
My tutoring experience is extensive. I tutored at Moorpark College in California, where I became a certified tutor at the Moorpark College Learning Center. The students were of a variety of backgrounds and learning needs. They included traditional and nontraditional students and those with learning and physical disabilities. At Moorpark College, I tutored mathematics from Pre-Algebra to Vector Calculus, Mechanical Physics, Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism, Biology and Spanish, Statistics. During this time, I was Student Instructor for Intermediate Algebra classes, providing out-of-class tutoring and in-class review of course material while acting as the liaison between professor and students. I worked at the University of Kentucky Center for Tutoring and Academic Services for 3 years. I tutored college athletes in Mathematics (Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Calculus with Trigonometry), Physics, Statistics, Biology, German and Spanish. I was also an undergraduate teacher’s assistant in the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of Kentucky. I taught and planned lectures for an undergraduate Physics Lab in electromagnetism and optics. I tutored in the Physic Department’s Learning Center, including mechanical physics, electromagnetism and optics.

At Moorpark College, I tutored mathematics from Pre-Algebra to Vector Calculus, Mechanical Physics, Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism and Statistics. During this time, I was Student Instructor for Intermediate Algebra classes, providing out-of-class tutoring and in-class review of course material while acting as the liaison between professor and students. I worked at the University of Kentucky Center for Tutoring and Academic Services for 3 years. I tutored college athletes in Mathematics (Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Calculus with Trigonometry), Physics and Statistics. I completed a BS in Physics at the University of Kentucky. I was formally inducted into the Sigma Pi Sigma National Honor Physics Society, University of Kentucky and received an award for “Recognition of High Scholarship for Participation in Research, University of Kentucky, Physic

Education has been a large part of my professional and academic career. I have worked in healthcare for 40+ years as a Registered Dietitian, and I have been a certified tutor for over 10 years. I am currently working on my graduate degree in Epidemiology (GPA 3.83). First and foremost, I enjoy tutoring one on one. I am optimistic, patient and strive to make sure that a student understands a concept before moving on. My certification as a tutor and long history in education have provided training to assess students' learning styles and needs best. It is also a pleasure assisting a student in becoming self-sufficient in their subject and providing study techniques that can be beneficial in all of their academic endeavors. I learned many years ago that a positive outlook had been proven to enhance learning.

Nutrition

I have been a Registered Dietitian since 1981. I am also a certified nutritional support clinician (CNSC) since 1991. I have worked in almost all areas of medical nutrition therapy. My specialties are renal, pulmonary, oncology, trauma, neonatal intensive care, eating disorders, and pediatrics, with extensive expertise in physical assessment for malnutrition. My diet education of patients and clients has been focused on behavior modification for permanent lifestyle changes. I have also worked in hospital department management and the professional education of dietetic interns, nurses, medical students, and residents. In addition, I had a private practice in California and was also on the adjunct faculty in the Family and Environmental Sciences Department at California State University, Northridge.
