Subjects

Art

Adobe Photoshop,

Adobe Photoshop

I have more than seven years of Adobe Photoshop experience through which I have learned the ins and outs of the program. I use Photoshop nearly every day to manipulate images in a multitude of ways.
Art History,

Art History

In addition to a lifelong fascination with art and its roots in history, I took several art history courses in college and worked as an assistant in the Hood College Art and Archaeology Department's Digital Media and Slide Library for all four years of my education. There, I assisted professors and converted and cataloged thousands of images into the Madison Digital Imaging Database (MDID) for their use in the classroom.
Drawing,

Drawing

In keeping with my love for the arts, I've loved to draw ever since I could hold a pencil. I've taken a few art courses here and there but mainly enjoy learning on my own time, experimenting with different drawing mediums and seeing what looks best. I come from a long line of artists and am always looking to improve my own skills. Recently, I've worked on improving my interpretation of the human form.
Film,

Film

For me, film has been a lifelong passion. I am a big fan of the movies and their relationship with society. In college, I took an amazing course on the Hollywood Blacklist and learned a great deal about film styles of that era, including film noir. I was also fortunate enough to take a film history course offered by an amazing professor who is part of the movie industry, and learned of film's history from its inception all the way up to modern times. From Clara Bow to Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin to Tom Cruise, I'm always up for a good discussion on film.
Photography,

Photography

While I wouldn't consider myself an expert photographer, photography has been a lifelong hobby of mine. I took two courses on traditional film in high school where I learned the history of photography and developed prints by hand. In college, I continued my study of photography outside of the classroom, branching out into digital photography and experimenting with photographs in Adobe Photoshop.
Theater,

Theater

I am an Actor/Singer. My training took place at Hood College, where I was a Theatre minor. My instructors included Jen Plants, Tony Tsendeas, and Joe Brady. My special skills/dialects include improvisation, British Accent(s), Irish Accent, Southern USA Accent, A Cappella Singing, and Ululating. Video Production

Video Production

Like photography, video production has always been a huge hobby of mine. I began making and editing video in grade school and continued doing so through high school, where I took my first video production class. In college, I took another video production course, where I worked for the first time in a truly professional collaborative group. I filmed nearly all theatre productions at my college and have shot and edited countless original pieces within a group and independently. I love the video production process and enjoy teaching others how to turn their thoughts and ideas into moving pictures!

Business

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

My love for public speaking and theatre go hand-and-hand. In high school, I successfully completed the Dale Carnegie Training program and was later selected from among my peers to deliver my own speech at our graduation ceremony. I took another public speaking course in college and participated in several college theatre productions, a cabaret performance, was the co-founder and co-president of Hood College's Hood Improvisation Troupe and was President of the Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at Hood College. I was also the vice president of my residence hall. All of these positions required the ability to stand up and speak in front of an audience and hold their attention for extended periods of time.

Grammar,

Grammar

As a transcriptionist and a former copy editor of my college's student-produced newspaper, I have a keen eye for accuracy and am generally bothered when I see grammatical inaccuracies. I believe thoughts should to be expressed clearly and concisely. Why detract from an otherwise great piece of writing with a grammar mistake? Correct grammar shows not only mental aptitude, but pride in what you've written. I've always loved to proofread for my friends and family.
Proofreading,

Proofreading

I am a transcriptionist of seven years, where proofreading is a must. When in college, I served as copy editor of my college's student-produced newspaper and have a keen eye for accuracy. I've always loved to proofread for my friends and family to assure that the correct spelling, grammar, and syntax are used.

Reading,

Reading

I've always loved to read. There's nothing quite like picking up a book or browsing on the Web and becoming completely immersed in another world. As you know, watching a movie and reading a book provide completely different experiences--when you read a book, you create the world, the setting, and the characters all on your own! It's a wonderful experience and when I find a book I really love, I want to share it with everyone I know.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

Vocabulary! Did you know that from the age of three to the age of 16 that we humans learn(ed) nearly four new words a day? By the time we're in our 50s, that number slows to almost a halt. But why ever stop learning? I'm always up for discovering new ways to express my thoughts and feelings and love to help others uncover new words and phrases, as well.

English

English,

English

I absolutely love the English language. It is for this reason that I chose to major in Communication Arts at college, so that I may communicate with individuals not only on paper, but also through spoken means.

Along with my love for reading comes my love for great literature.

Writing

I love to write. Poems, songs, stories, books, notes, those areas have always been where I've excelled. In fact, I was the kid in math class who doodled in her margins and wrote stories instead of paying attention to the teacher. In college, I regularly wrote for our student-produced newspaper and today I'm working on finishing my first novel. I would love to help you write!

Archaeology

I worked for Hood College's Art and Archaeology Department for four years, during which time I enrolled in History of Art I, Archaeology, Archaeology of Death, and Art of Egypt and Mesopotamia courses. In January of 2012 I traveled to Egypt for ten days with a Professor of archaeology and group of students to further study the culture's archaeological impact on history.
