I have a B.S. in Environmental Biology with a minor in Chemistry, an M.S. is Biology with a focus on plant ecology and botany, and a M.A. in Teaching. I have been a high school science teacher since 2013. During that time I have taught courses including biology, chemistry, Earth science, environmental science, and physical science. I think what I like most about tutoring is the same thing that drew me to teaching. I've always liked answering questions and explaining things. I also feel a sense of accomplishment when a student that is struggling with a concept gets it.

I have been teaching high school science since 2013. Before that I completed B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology. I have a deep love of understanding how the world around me actually works. I understand that some topics, such as chemistry and physics, are more about learning to apply principles and perform calculations based on those principles. I've had students refer to chemistry as an applied math class, which is pretty accurate. Other topics, such as biology, ecology/environmental science, and Earth science are more about learning terms and patterns, reading diagrams, and piecing together the relationships between groups of interrelated parts.

As for certification, I have am licensed in West Virginia for middle school, high school, and adult education in the fields of biology, chemistry, and general science.

So, if you are looking for someone who has being teaching science for a while an enjoys explaining things, we might be a good fit. With COVID-19 pandemic and talk of more remote learning in the fall, finding a good tutor might be an essential step to academic success. I am comfortable with video conferencing and teaching "online courses", so wherever you are, I am always available online.
