About William

I have taught college since 1988 at both an accredited private college (Salem-Teikyo university. Now Salem International University) and the third largest public college in West Virginia (Fairmont State University). As of February 2016 I only tutor and am no longer employed at either school.

I have both an MBA from West Virginia University and am a certified public accountant (CPA). I have taught many accounting courses over the years but also college algebra, statistics, and economics.

My main love though is tutoring English for general and business use.

My mother was an English professor. Although my degrees are outside the formal English academic discipline, I am a native speaker and have loved language and literature all my life.

Get with me for tutoring in English proficiency especially. I like working with all students. If you aren't as fluent as you would like to be, I can be a great help to you!

I have taught students many difficult subjects including accounting, statistics, economics and international business. I am able to develop a rapport with most students and I find it fun and challenging to make you, the student, find the subject you are studying fun and challenging. I have learned through countless classroom interactions with students that learning needs to be made fun, not dreadful. Over and over, students in their evaluations of my classes say I really care that they come to know the subject. And I actually do the problems with the students until they feel comfortable doing the problems themselves. I have kept the student evaluations for my 28 years of college teaching and they will be available to students and parents who may be interested in my tutoring services.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Financial Accounting

I've taught college accounting for 28 years and always get great evaluations from the students.

Managerial Accounting

I've taught college accounting for 28 years and always get great evaluations from the students.

World History

I am a great reader of world history and passed Wyzant's qualifying exam. My main academic field, however, is accounting.

Very hands on, one-on-one tutor

Bill went over problems I had in my book, one step at a time. If I didn't understand it, we continued to work on it until I did. He was very knowledgeable about the topics and was punctual for our session. I would recommend Bill to any other students who need a more hands on approach to learning.
