About Cindy

I consider myself a lifelong learner. I am of the belief that anyone can learn any subject if it is approached with the appropriate learning style. I love being able to see the "look" a student has when they "get it" and realize that they actually understand something that they previously thought was impossible. There is nothing more rewarding that helping a student realize the potential that they possess. I have volunteered as a tutor/mentor on many occasions, but this is my first attempt at being paid to do something that I love so much.

I have been educated in a variety of subjects for many years, culminating in my Master's Degree and Graduate Certificates. I enjoy learning, and teaching and I truly think that learning should be fun and exciting.

I worked for a University that required me to utilize SPSS for data mining and analysis. I went to classes offered by the software company and quickly fell in love with Statistical Analysis. I worked with the software and the application of statistics for 5 years, often tutoring students at the university in Social Science Statistics. I held impromptu classes for educators at the university teaching them how to conduct their own statistical research using SPSS and data mining.

My Master's Degree is in Forensic Psychology. I have had over 50 credit hours in a variety of psychology fields. I have successfully completed classes on Lifespan Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Child Psychology, and Criminal Psychology, just to name a few.

As a grad student, I was published in the university-based Criminal Justice Journal for a thesis I wrote on the Eccentricities of Michael Jackson. It was written from a fan's perspective, but utilized theory and probability firmly based in the founding fathers of psychology.

Before my experience in SPSS, I utilized Microsoft Excel for all statistical, accounting, and spreadsheet needs. It was in my comfort zone and I used it for everything from grocery lists (sorted by aisle) to survey data imported from survey software. I still use Excel almost daily as a quick and easy way to sort or graph data.

While I am new to being a paid tutor, I will offer you the best experience possible. We will make learning fun and I will make sure that you are satisfied with each and every lesson before you pay for it.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Criminal Justice

I have a B.S. with a concentration in criminal justice. I have worked as a criminal counselor, a paralegal and investigator. I have taught CJ and research classes at a local university as an adjunct/online instructor.

Logic

During my work as a graduate assistant, one of the classes I assisted with was a Logic and Critical Thinking course for undergraduate students. I was often solely responsible for the daily objectives, lecture and assignments. I assigned and graded homework.
