About David

I am a Lutheran pastor, classically trained, married with three children. My educational experience is greatly varied with emphasis in history, theology, languages, political science, music, and literature. I have extensive travel experience and speak some Spanish and French. I enjoy helping students discover our world and have a father's compassion for all students.

I will be prompt, faithful, and professional in my teaching. Parents can trust me as a faithful husband and father for almost twenty years. I am accountable to my Church body as well. My teaching experience includes tutoring one on one and classroom experience for elementary through adult learners.

I studied language grammar and usage at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis which teaches a classical program of Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. My travel experiences have helped my abilities in French and Spanish. I lived in Uruguay, South America for three months teaching at San Pablo Lutheran School. My French teacher was a French resistance fighter in WWII and inspired me not just in the language, but in life.

Contact me to learn more about my desire to serve families. I am certified in the Family Friendly Partner's Network (Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI) and understand the dynamics of family in learning.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am an ordained clergyman of the LCMS, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, in good standing. I have three graduate degrees in Biblical Studies from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Master of Divinity 1996, Master of Sacred Theology 2004, and Doctorate of Ministry 2012. I studied the Scriptures in Greek, Hebrew, and Latin (and English) and have an emphasis in Historical Theology. I grew up in a Christian home reading the Scriptures and have continued to read them daily. I have served as a parish pastor for twenty years and completed three overseas mission trips teaching the Bible.

I am an ordained clergyman of the LCMS, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and finished three graduate degrees from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis whereat students learn and study in Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. My BA and MA in History focused on world history including Greek, Roman, and Byzantine cultures. I have taught children, youth, and adults in classroom and one on one tutoring settings. As a Lutheran pastor I continue to read Greek in preparation for sermon writing.

Greek

I am a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St Louis whereat all students learn and must pass proficiency tests in Greek, Hebrew, and Latin to study the Scriptures in those languages. My transcripts show my proficiency in these three languages. All Exegetical classes (classes in the Christian Scriptures) were taken using these Languages. I continue to study in these languages for sermon preparation.

Political Science

My BA is in History and my minor is Political Science with an emphasis on the US Constitution and world political geography. I have taught children, youth, and adults in classroom and one on one tutoring settings. I continue to be engaged in political science by reading daily about the world's political processes. I have traveled to South America, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean and observed their cultures and political structures. I have been active in local politics and enjoy discussing politics.

Public Speaking

I am an ordained clergyman of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and have been speaking in public for over twenty years. My college transcripts show courses such as Fundamentals of Speech, English Grammar and Composition, Communication Skills, and Preaching as Persuasion.
