I have taught evening FEA engineering courses at UW-Extension college and UWM for eight years. In retirement, one of my goals is to teach or tutor students in mathematics, physics, and engineering from an applied prospective. In the past I have volunteered in engineering day projects for high school students and served as a judge for Science Olympiad Wright Flyer events for high school students at the U of I.

As a practicing analytical Mechanical Engineer, I have be applying mathematics and physics to solve a wide variety of engineering problems. I have to ability to break complex problems down to the basic principals and explain to others in a more simple form. I have had extensive advanced math courses as part of my BS and MS degree programs in mechanical engineering.

As a practicing Mechanical Engineer I have be applying physics to solve engineering problems in the areas of mechanics, heat transfer, electrical, vibrations, electrostatics, magnetics, and strength of materials, Based on my experience I can bring the practical prospective of how mathematics and physics principals are applied by engineers and scientists to solve real world problems.

I am looking forward to sharing my engineering background by mentoring students in the areas of mathematics, physics and or engineering.

I highly recommend Jeff

Jeff helped me with Finite Element Analysis for about 5 sessions this past semester. He was very knowledgeable about the subject and really helped me understand it a lot better on a conceptual level as well as an analytical level, using matrices to solve the problems. He also helped me extensively on my semester project on the program FEMAP/NASTRAN by showing me alternate ways to solve the problem and working through troubleshooting how to create the model on the program using an example from another software he was familiar with. I went from not doing well on the midterm before tutoring, to earning an A on the final exam with his help and guidance throughout the rest of the semester. I definitely recommend him if anyone needs help with this course, it most definitely paid off

Excellent Tutor

I have previously worked with Jeff and have started reviewing with him again. As before he is very thorough and knowledgeable. Jeff is very informative when going through problems. Jeff also takes the time to explain how functions are derived and how to apply the functions which is very helpful in understanding the work being done.

FE Exam Help Mathematics Economics and mechanics of materials

Jeff is a great teacher for the the FE exam, mathematics Economics and mechanics of materials, he explained these subjects in great detail, and took them time to explain the underlaying theory, whenever i had a problem with solving some problems. He has many years of practical experience, which makes him a great in explaining the importance of different equations in practice. I have passed the FE exam in 2020 with Jeff's help.

Experienced and Knowledgeable

I had two sessions with Jeff in the subject of Heat Transfer and am very satisfied. I came into this feeling afraid and confused and now I feel confident and clear headed. He broke down the material in a way that was easy to understand and shared about the relevance of the material in real life applications because he worked in the industry for 40+ years. This made it way more interesting to learn.

Knowledgeable and Experienced Tutor

We went over several topics in Finite Element Analysis already. Jeff has excellent theoretical foundation and practical experience in this field. He also has long experience in structural analysis.

Very knowledgeable and patient

We worked on Strength of Materials and he went through the problems step by step. I would highly recommend him for tutoring lessons to classmates. I plan on continuing my lessons with him.

Extremely helpful and knowledgeable tutor.

Jeff has been working with me for several months in order to study for my FE exam and has been very helpful while reviewing material with me. The amount of time and dedication he puts into his lessons shows through the entire session with Jeff. He doesn't just show you how to do the problems but makes sure you are engaged in solving the problem and understand why and what you are applying to solve the problem at hand. I would recommend Jeff to any student of engineering.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Jeff taught me how to calculate deflections on beams using the virtual work method. My teacher made it so complicated that I was really confused. But Jeff patiently explained me the material he was able to figure out the cause of my lack of understanding of the method. I felt that he knows his stuff and has experience helping students to be successful in their structural classes. I will definitely have more lessons with Jeff in the future.
