Hello, my name is Brandon. I would love the opportunity to earn your family's business and help your child grow in their education. I have experience in a wide variety of subjects, having changed majors in college between teaching social studies, teaching physical education, finally getting my degree in philosophy from UMD. I have a full-time career job in the business world, but I can't shake off the passion I have for teaching and coaching others. I am most comfortable in English, reading, social studies, public speaking/social skills, and physical education as far as grades 8-12. I received a 33 on my ACT in both English and reading. (28 overall) I am very comfortable helping with any subject K-8. One phone call with me will ensure you that I am the perfect candidate for your child.
My biggest advantage is that I am a huge social butterfly, and I am very confident that I will be able to make a connection with your child and coach/motivate them for success. I am also very involved with my church, and have been in leadership positions there in music and camp counseling. I have the knowledge, personality, and integrity required to ensure the success of your student in school!
I have a bachelor's degree from UMD in philosophy, but also completed 75% of a degree in teaching physical education, and spent three semesters in teaching social studies. I also spent a semester working in the schools in North Shore Elementary training for physical education, as well as coaching at Lakeview Christian academy, intramural coaching at UMD, and a little track up on the Iron Range. I was a 3.95 student in high school, and finish with close to a 3.5 in college while working full-time. I am academically dedicated to making sure your child/young adult has success in school. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
