I have just returned to the Milwaukee area after teaching English as a foreign language in Normandy, France for 28 years.
Teaching for me is a very gratifying experience and I enjoyed teaching each and every day. My students ranged in age from 5 to 65, and I worked in private homes, at kindergarten, junior high, high school, tech school, and university levels. The most common comment I received over the years was "Already?" in wonderment when my timer went off, signaling our lesson was over for the day. I strive to make lessons tailor-made, challenging, creative and fun.
I have, as well, worked in the health field for over 25 years, as a yoga-Pilates coach with French patients who suffer from diabetes, obesity or both. I enjoyed sharing new-found nutritional info relating to ways these people can combat their disease, all the while researching new poses and stretches, meditation and moves that were adapted to their health problems. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Living in France and specifically Normandy, one has to adapt and quickly. I found humor worked quite well. I wrote a tongue-in-cheek fun-to-read sort of comic book on Pilates in French, with my obesity patients/students in mind.
A journalist at heart, I have a love of the language and a passion for learning about my students, so that I may adapt my lessons to them.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American, I taught English as a second language in France for over 28 years. In my spare time, I studied and achieved certification in France to teach aerobics, step," keep fit while you sit", yoga, Pilates, hiphop, weightlifting, stretching and classes for those suffering from morbid obesity and/or life-threatening diabetes.
As a Journalist, writer, author, blogger, I love to write--and read. I transfer this infectious upbeat energy and love of reading by tailoring my lessons to fit my students--finding out what THEY enjoy reading, then pursuing, encouraging, inciting that student's interests. Exciting, isn't it?:-0
American, I lived in France for over 28 years teaching English as a second language. In my spare time, I studied and received state certification (in France) to teach yoga & Pilates (in French). Over time, I realized there was a real need for an easy-to-understand, encouraging book for the number of patients I was counseling, suffering from morbid obesity and/or diabetes (again, in France). I wrote & published a book on yoga & Pilates (in France, in French.)
