I consider myself a great pick for a tutor because I have graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts, and a focus in Education. Throughout my high school and college career, I have had many wonderful experiences working with children. For example, I taught vacation bible school for three years at my local church. Also, during my summer breaks, I attended numerous mission trips. On these mission trips I worked with children ages 4 to 16; to these children I was seen as a mentor, tutor and friend. In my home life I have put my tutor skills to use with my own brothers. Coming from a single mother family, I was depended upon as the oldest to help my brothers with their homework. Also as a 25 year old with Dyslexia, I have accomplished my own goals and overcome my hurdles. Dealing with my own struggles, I have developed great tools to attack the task at hand, such as pacing one’s self, implying breaks and changing the subject. These are the kind of tools I would apply in my sessions. Drawing from my experiences, I consider myself warmhearted, patient and encouraging.
