I enjoy working with kids and helping them accomplish their goals. It makes me feel good when they make progress on a subject or anything really. I have worked in different jobs helping youth. I have been working as a substitute teacher the past year and a half. I also have experience teaching cello lessons and I currently give piano lessons. I really enjoy helping student achieve the "aha" moment/ taking them from being confused to where it starts to click and they understand it.
I went back to University of Wisconsin Green Bay in order to obtain a teacher's license. I have been learning teaching strategies and theories which could help me be a better tutor. While there, I tutored a few high school students through a future phoenix program where I would go to their school and help them for a class period.
Some things about me that might exemplify some qualifications; I was on the math team in high school and enjoy the puzzle like nature of math. I believe if we can change the way we look at subjects such as math or problems in them, we can make them more enjoyable. A lot of math problems like aforementioned can be seen like completing a puzzle and you can even turn it into a game. A creative or novel approach can be refreshing and taking the students strengths and interests into mind can help make it more interesting and help develop motivation for them to succeed.
I love to play and create music. I have years of playing instruments such as piano, cello, guitar, and others. I also have a degree in Music from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Music can be a powerful tool in life and it can be used to implement and support lessons, even those not related to music.
I like to keep a positive attitude and believe that we all can be successful. It's just a matter of having the right mental tools and strategies to achieve success. I would love to be able to help you or your son or daughter obtain the skills they need to to be successful in a subject or anything else. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played cello since I was in 6th grade. I continued through high school and college to today. I have recorded a few songs that I've written for cello. I also took lessons in college from the cello professor. I have recently started playing with the Green Bay Civic Symphony.
I have written over 20 pieces for differing instrumentations. Many are written for cello or piano or both but I have written a full orchestra piece. I have performed my cello quartet while at UW-Eau Claire. I have also created songs using electronic instruments with Ableton Live. I have a knowledge of DAWs and notation software.
I love music. I love to play and listen to classical music. I earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Music from UW-Eau Claire where I took many classes in Music history. Some of these classes were in Early music up to 1600 including Periods such as the Renaissance and discussing Church song and early Gregorian chants. The next two classes covered the rest of music history up to present day including Classical, Romantic, and 20th century music. I also took a specialized class in Jazz history where we discussed the evolution of jazz and analyzed transcripts of famous and influential jazz solos.
I play the piano and enjoy doing so. I have written pieces for the piano and have recorded one of them. I teach piano right now to 2 students. I started a few months ago and my students are progressing nicely.
I have worksheets and lessons I have created to help learn the piano. I also have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Music.
