Hello there! I'm Ashley, and I'm passionate about helping students really understand tricky subjects like math and Spanish. I've been tutoring math since I was in high school, and I've always loved helping students figure out why things work the way they do. I'm also a local substitute teacher.

I studied at the University of Portland, where I simultaneously earned a BA in Spanish and a BS in Civil Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. During that time, I headed the Engineering Honor Society's tutoring program, where I tutored engineering students in college-level calculus and physics.

I have over 10 years experience tutoring math in both English and Spanish, ranging from Pre Algebra to college level Calculus. Additionally, I scored a 5/5 on both the AP Calculus AB and BC exams, and I'm familiar with AP format problems. I currently work with local high school students, tutoring ESL students in Pre Algebra and helping students prepare for the AP Calculus and SAT math exams.

As a Spanish tutor, I love to help students connect with the culture behind the Spanish language. I recently returned from a year-long Fulbright grant in Mexico City where I was a graduate student and intern at local Mexican institutions. Prior to that, I earned my BA in Spanish and studied in Santiago. I've also traveled to Guatemala and Ecuador, and I currently work with Central American immigrants.
