I have been teaching Grades 9-12 Math in the past 35 years in both public and private schools - the last 6 years in Dallas Independent School District, Dallas, TX. In all those 35 years, I have taught all groups of students: advance kids, struggling kids, kids with special needs, diverse kids, and LEP kids (language learners. I have learned to adjust my teaching strategies to the specific needs of my students and I am happy to note that they become successful at the end of the course. I made learning Math a fun activity rather than a dreadful one. I make my students interested in the subject and make them see the relevance of the subject in daily life. I love teaching kids, and that is the main reason why I believe I would stay in the teaching field for the rest of my career. My name is Maria S. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 30 years of classroom teaching experience in Algebra 1.
PreAlgebra is my springboard toward introducing my students to higher Algebra. I see to it that my students have a mastery of this introductory part to be ready and confident to tackle higher algebra courses.
I have tutored and prepared students for SAT Math and the majority, if not all, were successful on the test.
