About Jean M

Bio

Art has always been important to me. I earned my BA in Fine Art in 2012. Since then, I have shown my work in galleries and art museums, I won awards and was published in an international art publication. Many opportunities to teach have been presented to me, and I especially enjoy helping others to realize their own artistic abilities.

Painting

Painting

I graduated with honors with BA in Fine Art from UW-Parkside, Kenosha, WI in 2012. My painting professor assigned me to teach painting at a local senior citizen home during my senior year. It was a great learning experience dealing with the clients different psychological and physical abilities. I taught drawing, painting, and ceramics at a studio in Waterford, WI. I have won awards for best sculpture at MOWA, and others for print and drawing. I have sold in galleries, at art shows, and paintings by commission. I have my Certification for teaching painting from Grumbacher/Thalo paint company and I am currently teaching drawing and painting at Michaels Arts and Crafts Store in Racine, WI. Although I have painting lessons plotted out, I believe that each student needs to make their artwork their own. I will teach them the academics, and then encourage them to use those tools to create their own masterpieces. Learning goes on forever, and I love to learn from other's artistic experiences.

Sports/Recreation

Sewing

Sewing

Sewing has been a favorite pastime since I was 7 years old. I started with doll clothes on my grandma's sewing machine and graduated to my own clothes on a school treadle machine. Many of my projects start with a pattern and end up with several custom changes. I enjoy the creative diversity sewing offers. More recently I have been teaching quilting at the local fabric store. After the first lesson, I was totally hooked. I enjoy creating table runners and mats, coasters, tea cozies, as well as purses/bags and of course quilts. The possibilities are endless.
