About Jonathan

Thank you for looking at my profile.

I am a highly experienced, highly qualified math tutor (10 years experience), who has taught high school and middle school math.

I have been teaching SAT math prep seminars for Temple University for 5 years.

I am very successful at helping struggling students truly understand mathematical concepts. The results of my tutoring are: renewed confidence by my students in their own abilities, improved grades, reduced stress.

Students find me friendly and supportive, and I have innovative ways, based on each student's learning style, to help them understand each topic in math.

I can provide references from satisfied clients.

My bachelor's degree in is math, and I have a master's of education (M.Ed) from Temple University.

Here are some testimonials from some of my students and their parents:

"Jonathan was able to work with my son and decode what he needed to know to put him on par with the other students in his class"

R.B (Mother of a 5th grader)

"When I was in 7th grade, math was my worst subject. I had given up in class and felt like I would be one of those kids who would just never get it.

Mr. K taught me that math wasn't just numbers and memorization; there was a more logical way of thinking about it that I could actually grasp. By 9th grade I was at the top of my class. I am now a junior in high school and am in AP pre-calculus. This is something which I can proudly show to colleges and it is a direct result of Mr. K's help."

A.W (11th grade student)

Jonathan is a patient, knowledgeable, reliable & effective teacher and tutor. He has worked with our daughters (grades 4 & 7) over the past year, and both of their math teachers noted improvement. In fact, our seventh grader scored advanced on her math PSSA this year. Jonathan has a clear & kind communication style, and a genuine passion about math and helping kids "get it"!

D.S. (Mother & middle school teacher)

We initially employed Jonathan to work with our son to prepare for a 7th grade math placement exam. Our son earned one of the highest marks in his class. Our son enjoyed working with Jonathan so much that he asked to continue to work with him during the school year. Our son earned an A in a 7th grade advanced math class. At the end of the school year, my son asked if he could continue to work with Jonathan over the summer to continue to advance his knowledge of math. I think this speaks volumes about Jonathan’s ability to make a tough subject both fun and interesting.

My 11th grade daughter had been working with another math tutor. When she began to prepare for her finals this spring she asked if she could work with Jonathan since our son was so complimentary of him. She did so and was very impressed with his ability to simplify complex ideas and to show her multiple ways to approach a single math problem. We also gave Jonathan’s name to a close family friend who was preparing for an AP Calculus exam. She too praised Jonathan’s teaching methods.

We highly recommend Jonathan!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Knowledgeable and patient

My 6 year old twins had their first lesson with Jonathan. Even though Jonathan teaches mainly middle and high school students, he did a wonderful job with my kids using manipulatives. They said they had fun and looked forward to having more sessions. I like that he teaches using manipulatives first before going into pictorial for young learners. He is very knowledgable and open-minded.
