As a registered Professional Engineer, I have applied mathematics in my work for 35 years and love teaching others! I graduated with highest honors from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and later earned an MBA from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.
For the past 18 years of my career, I worked as a Research and Engineering Manager, where mentoring and motivating team members were among my key responsibilities and noted strengths.
A father to four grown children, all of whom graduated at the top of their respective high school and college classes, I miss the days of helping them with their homework, particularly Mathematics. Had the job market for teachers been better when I entered college, I would have pursued a career as an Algebra Teacher, as I have strong passion for the subject and enjoy helping others succeed.
I have formal teaching experience, having previously served on the Adjunct Faculty for the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and also have a great deal of experience working with children and young adults as a volunteer for many years with the Boy Scouts of America.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I feel I am well qualified to tutor Algebra 1. As a practicing Mechanical Engineer for over 35 years, I frequently applied algebra in my profession. Additionally, while raising four grown children, I tutored them all through Algebra.
