About Tyler

I currently work as a Mechanical Engineer for Briggs and Stratton in Wauwatosa and have been since August of 2016. I graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2014 with a B.S in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business Management. While I was a student at at MSOE I was on the Deans List for every trimester (except for my first trimester as a freshman).

I have never had any professional tutoring experience but I have always wanted my teammates/colleagues to succeed and I love to teach people new things. I have a relaxed personality and understand that everyone learns at a different pace and I will encouraging you to keep going until you learn the subject, I love to see people do their best.

I have completed up to calculus IV, probability and statistics, differential equations, advanced differential equations and many math related engineering courses

I have also taken courses in business courses such as accounting, and would be able to assist with simple business courses.

And I have been working for almost 3 years as a mechanical engineer. I started my career at a company in Illinois called Power Solutions International. They are an alternative fuel engine supplier for industrial companies.

I primarily handled woodchipper and forklift projects. I designed 200+ parts to be used in customer projects/prototypes. Designing the parts included performing hand calculations and verifying using finite element analysis. The manufacturing processes used to make the part played a large role in how the part was drawn using the ASME Y14.5 2009 drafting standard.

I started working at Briggs and Stratton in August of 2016. My boss and I make up the engineering team and I love the added responsibilities that come with having a small engineering team. At Briggs and Stratton I perform testing that is witnessed by Underwritters Laboratories to ensure the product meets safety standards. I also mark up drawings that are created by our draftsmen as well as initial the design of a new part, working with the draftsman to get the part drawn correctly.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

AutoCAD

Worked for a large industrial engine supplier near Chicago, IL for two years. While working there I designed and modeled well over 200 parts and at least 75 went into production. All of my work was done on Solidworks.

Differential Equations

While at MSOE I took both differential equations and advanced differential equations and completed with a 3.8 gpa (or and AB in each course). Differential equations focused on first and second order homogeneous and non-homogeneous equations as well as integrating factors and exact differentials. Advanced differential equations focused on solving differential equations using Taylor series, power series and other types of infinite series to solve. Working as an engineer I applied differential equations to solve shaft design problems that were used on the output shaft of a wood chipper.

Mechanical Engineering

Graduated with honors from MSOE in 2014 with a B.S in Mechanical Engineering. Worked for two years for a company in Illinois where I designed 200+ parts using mechanics of materials, manufacturing process, and finite element analysis. Currently working on Briggs and Stratton as a Mechanical engineer where I perform tests on generator units as well as controller programming and engine calibration.

Really helps

My 15 year old son had been struggling all semester, but had sort of given up hope of passing recently and refused help. He failed three tests in a row and agreed to meet again with Tyler the afternoon before a test. Tyler spent an hour and a half, rather than the scheduled hour, with my son to help him study. My son earned a C the next day. A huge improvement, but also encouragement that he can d
