I have been just completed my 27th year of teaching. I am liking to teach children who want to learn. I have taught grades second through eighth and currently teach children with special needs. I am licensed by WI D.P.I. and hold licenses for grades 1 through 8, Cross Categorical and being a Principal. I hold a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. My heart is not in being the administrator but rather with working with students.
The staff at the school in which I currently work have named me "The Child Whisperer" due to my being able to relate and diffuse students having behavioral and academic issues. I would like to have the opportunity to work with students this summer on a one: one or two: one ratio. I enjoy helping students, children make and reach personal goals. I try to stay up on the current fads but love having students teach me what is new and happening in the young person's world.
I have worked with the Common Core State Standards as well as the Common Core Essential Elements. I use the CCSS every time I develop a student's IEP. The are long winded at times but I believe it is important for every student to know what is expected of them to learn in the school setting and take ownership of their education.
I have been in CAU classroom for six years. It is very important to find what the "key" is for each child In order to open them up to being introduced, taught and retain instructional materials.
I have been looking here and there for summer jobs. I keep coming back to what I really know and that is working with students. I have looked at jobs that do not require as much dedication and contemplation. They do not interest me enough for me to really get up in the morning to do them. I get up every day during the school year to teach. I have been just completed my 27th year of teaching. I am liking to teach children who want to learn. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I use the CCSS in class daily despite teaching in a CAU classroom. I also incorporate the CCSS and CCEE in IEPs that I am required to develop for each of my students annually.
I am certified in Cross Categorical Special Needs Education and have spent six years teaching in a Comprehensive Academic Unit (formerly known as MRP).
