About Lynette

I have worked in Milwaukee Public Schools for 2 years in the Special Ed department. I have worked with students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I have worked with students on the kindergarten students on letter recognition, sounds and writing. I have worked both in the classroom full time as well as pulling students who are in regular Ed and need additional assistance. I enjoy working on building vocabulary, reading, and math. I also enjoy helping student write creatively.

I am a new mom and it has been very rewarding. I have been married for 7 years and just enjoy being with my family. I believe that all children can learn if they are pushed to excel and if it is fun. Working with children requires patience and being able to adapt to any situation i feel I am very capable of meeting those expectations.

I make it fun. I always look for different ways to get the material across to the youth. Children like to use their hands so making math visible and hands on will keep their attention.

I have patience. Encouraging movement or voice changes will keep it interesting for children and make them enjoy reading more.

Students need to be well rounded so assisting in all areas will cut down on stress and allow them to focus on one task at a time instead of feeling as though they are drowning.

Adaptability, being able to recognize what is working and what is not is very important for this age range. Ensuring I do not undervalue the age group by giving them work that is too easy but the outcome is reachable will also motivate a child.

Using repetition to help student learn new words is very effective. Then reviewing the old words prior to giving new words letters or sounds build confidence in the student to be successful. Also incorporating games so students learn while playing can build vocabulary quickly.

I am patient, fun, and will work my hardest to get you to were you need to be. We will set small goals and reach them so that we can meet your overall goal. Your success is my success if you fail I fail too and failing is not an option.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
