UWPlatteville (Elementary Education)
Hi! I have been teaching for 20 years with Milwaukee. I love seeing my children learn and then be able to teach the concept to another child. During my 20 years I have taught 4th grade, extended day after school, 1st grade, tutored after school, active in PTO and on my schools Learning Team. I am always taking classes myself to learn more things.
In addition I have an Art minor. I enjoy incorporating art into lessons when I can. I like to specialize in boosting a child's self-esteem so no matter the subject matter they feel they will be successful. I enjoy working with children in Reading and in Math.
I have high expectations for myself and those I tutor. I expect good communication and if ever the student or family has a concern to let me know. I do have a 24 hour cancellation requirement. I will do the same as well.
I look forward to seeing your child's success!
I am excellent in tutoring Reading development due to my 11 years of teaching in the 1st grade. I have taken many classes on Direct Instruction and plus my college training.
I am a great Elementary Education Tutor because of my 20 years experience teaching in theses grades, in addition to subbing. Also, I have tutored in an after school program in MPS in Elem. Ed.
I am an OUTSTANDING phonics teacher through my Direct Instruction teaching and by teaching 1st grade for 11 years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a teaching license here in Wisconsin through the DPI.
I have taught first grade in Milwaukee for 11 years. Most of those years in Reading we taught Direct Instruction which was very heavy on sounds and phonics. I used Elkonin boxes and making words. We practiced a lot with the Dolce and Fry sight Words. Students received their sight word button when they knew them all.
