Lawrence University (BA Art History)
Mount Mary Univeristy (Master's)
Hi! My name is Katherine. In 2014 I graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. This fall I'll be enrolling at Mount Mary for their Master's in Art Therapy program with the intention of becoming a board certified art therapist.
My main experience with tutoring has come from tutoring for art history classes in college. I helped provide fellow classmates with study skills and worked to improve study and writing habits for art history survey classes. Additionally I have had some experience as writing and content tutor for art history and presented in capstone classes on how to write a research paper. While at Lawrence I completed four capstone papers in addition to my senior thesis. I have experience in MLA, APA, and Chicago formatting for papers. As a part of my extracurriculars I worked as the managing editor for the school paper for 2 1/2 years of undergrad. In addition to assisting with edits, I kept payroll organized, planned meetings, and made sure that everything was all set to have a paper printed each Thursday. I also wrote for the news section of the paper as often as I was able for enjoyment. As an intern with Development and Communication at Lawrence University I wrote and edited pieces for the alumni magazine that goes out to alums each quarter.
I love tutoring because I love to share my passion for writing and history with others. I realize everyone has a different way of studying and if I can help improve or find what works for a student as far as study skills it is incredibly rewarding. As a former full time student athlete in both high school and college I know it can be hard to learn time management and I would love to help in any way that I can.
My experience with writing numerous research papers in college has given me a great deal of experience with grammar and vocabulary. I have also learned to format papers and bibliographies in several different ways (MLA, APA, Chicago) and have used endnotes, footnotes, and in-text citations effectively for classes. Thesis development has always been a strong point for me. I have always had a high proficiency in reading, and have improved my ability to read more effectively as well as analyze texts in college.
Please feel free to contact me! I would love to help with any writing, history or english needs! I do work another job, but am fairly flexible with scheduling! Hi! My name is Katherine. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
